What is the 1-second CPS test?

A 1-second CPS test measures your peak burst speed — the single fastest second of clicking your hand can produce. The timer starts the instant your first click lands, so there is no wind-up: what you see is pure explosive output. Because the window is so short, this is as much a reaction-and-ignition test as a speed test — it captures how quickly your nervous system can fire a motor command and how hard your finger flexors can contract before fatigue plays any role at all.

What is a good score?

Ordinary clicking peaks at 8–12 CPS inside one second — noticeably higher than the same person sustains over 10 or 60 seconds. Jitter clickers spike to 14–16, and butterfly or drag technique can post 20+ in a single burst.

Why 1 second is a burst test, not a speed test

In sports-science terms, one second of clicking is an all-out anaerobic burst: your finger fires at maximum rate with zero pacing. That makes the 1s test the best measure of raw twitch explosiveness — and the worst measure of consistency. A single mistimed click swings the result by a full CPS, so treat any one run as noise: run it five to ten times and take the median (each attempt costs you literally one second). Comparing your 1s median with your 10s average also shows how much of your speed is ignition versus endurance — most people lose 25–40% going from burst to sustained clicking.

FAQ

Why is my 1-second CPS much higher than my 10-second CPS?

One second only samples your peak burst before any fatigue. Over 10+ seconds the rate settles to what your muscles can actually sustain, typically 25–40% lower.

Is one second long enough to measure click speed?

It measures burst explosiveness well, but single runs are noisy — one early or late click moves the score by a whole CPS. Average several attempts.

Is my score saved?

Yes — your best 1s CPS is stored locally in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Does a faster CPS help in games?

In Minecraft PvP and clicker games it can help, but accuracy and consistency matter more than raw speed.
